This is a special gallery that includes older versions of smileys that have been updated with new shading, animation, etc. Many of the smileys in this collection will feature "flat" coloring. Some will question if these "8-bit" smilies are worth featuring. There is a benefit to minimal colors in a graphic, particularly on pages where many graphics may be displayed at once. Also, the simple fact is that there are people who prefer the minimal coloring so they can better see the detail. With that in mind, smileys that are replaced with newer versions will have a permanent place in this section.
